Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Buffalo Trout a real animal?
Depends who you ask.
Officially? No.
Unofficially? Plenty of folks claim they've seen something strange in Montana waters. We prefer to let the legend live where it belongs - somewhere between imagination, river stories, and good company.
Where did the Buffalo Trout come from?
The idea grew out of western lore, fly-fishing culture, and the kind of stories that get better the longer the night gets.
It's a tribute to the wild places that inspire tall tales - and the people who appreciate them.
What kind of posters do you sell?
Our posters are designed to feel rugged, bold, and a little unconventional. They're made for cabins, basements, man caves, fly shops, garages, and anywhere outdoor culture feels at home.
Think less "gallery wall" and more "good conversation starter."
Are these prints or original art?
These are high-quality printed posters designed for durability and display. They’re made to be enjoyed, hung, moved, and lived with — not locked away.
What sizes are available?
Sizes vary by design and are listed on each product page. We aim to offer sizes that work well in real spaces — above couches, workbenches, bars, and walls that deserve something interesting.
Do the colors look exactly like what’s on my screen?
We do our best to ensure accurate color representation, but screens vary. The good news: the designs tend to look even better in person.
Will these work in a man cave or cabin?
Absolutely. That’s kind of the point.
They’re built for rustic spaces, outdoor-inspired rooms, and places where comfort and character matter more than perfection.
Do you sell frames?
Not at the moment. We recommend choosing a frame that fits your space — wood, metal, reclaimed, or something beat up just enough to look right.
Can I hang these in a fly shop, bar, or office?
Yes — and we encourage it.
If you’re interested in bulk or commercial orders, reach out and we’ll take care of you.
Do you make apparel too?
Yes. Some designs cross over into hats, shirts, and hoodies — because good ideas shouldn’t be limited to walls.
Is this brand Montana-based?
Buffalo Trout Outfitters is deeply inspired by Montana landscapes, culture, and outdoor life. It’s rooted in the spirit of the place, even if the legend travels.
Is the Buffalo Trout dangerous?
Only to fragile egos and overly serious fishermen.
What if I buy one and don't love it?
If something’s not right, reach out. We want you to be happy with what’s on your wall.
How often do you release new designs?
Whenever inspiration strikes — which tends to happen often in the outdoors.
Can I request a custom design?
Possibly. If you have an idea that fits the brand, feel free to reach out and tell us about it.
Why “Roam Differently”?
Because not everyone wants the same gear, the same stories, or the same walls.
This brand is for people who enjoy the outdoors their own way — with curiosity, humor, and a little imagination.
What am I actually receiving?
You are purchasing a high-quality reproduction of the original artwork in the print style you select (canvas, fine art giclée, or metal). Each piece is produced made-to-order and carefully packaged for shipping.
Do the prints come framed?
No — prints do not come framed unless specifically listed as framed in the product description. Canvas prints arrive stretched and ready to hang. Giclée prints arrive ready for matting and framing. Metal prints arrive ready to hang with included mounting hardware.
What’s the difference between Canvas, Giclée, and Metal?
Great question — here’s the simple breakdown:
- Canvas Prints: A classic, warm, textured look. Great for homes, cabins, and gifts.
- Fine Art Giclée Prints: Museum-quality detail on fine art paper. Best for collectors and framing.
- Metal Prints: A bold, modern finish with incredible vibrancy and durability.
If you’re unsure, Signature Presentation (canvas) and Fine Art Giclée are the most popular choices.
What’s the difference between Everyday Display and Signature Presentation?
Both are canvas prints.
- Everyday Display is our best-value canvas option—high quality and simple.
- Signature Presentation is our most popular upgrade with a more elevated look and richer presentation.
Are Giclée prints limited edition?
Yes — Fine Art Giclée prints are signed and numbered as a limited edition of 150 per artwork. They include a Buffalo Trout Outfitters Certificate of Authenticity.
Are Canvas and Metal prints limited edition?
Canvas and Metal prints are typically offered as open editions, meaning they are not limited to a specific number. Limited edition offerings will always be clearly labeled.
How long does it take to ship my order?
All artwork is made to order, so production time depends on the print type:
- Canvas Prints: Ships in 10–14 business days
- Fine Art Giclée Prints: Ships in 10–15 business days
- Metal Prints: Ships in 12–18 business days
Shipping time after production is typically 3–7 business days, depending on your location. You’ll receive tracking as soon as your order ships.
Do sizes refer to the print size or the paper size? (Giclée)
For giclée prints, the listed size refers to the paper size, not the exact image size. Image dimensions may vary depending on the proportions of the original artwork.
Can I request a custom size?
Sometimes, yes. If you don’t see the size you want, contact us and we’ll do our best to help. Custom sizing may affect turnaround time and availability.
What if my order arrives damaged?
We package every order with care. If your item arrives damaged, contact us within 48 hours with photos of the packaging and item, and we’ll make it right.
Can I cancel or change my order after purchasing?
Because prints are made to order, cancellations or changes may not be possible once production begins. If you need to make a change, reach out as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to help.
Do you accept returns?
Since each piece is produced specifically for your order, we generally cannot accept returns. That said, if there is an issue with your order, please contact us—we care deeply about making sure you love what you receive.
Will I receive a tracking number?
Yes — you’ll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order ships.
